Event: “Sharing Solutions” – Improving management and accountability for public service delivery

Charity Moore from the Harvard Kennedy School presents research from a project on “USing digital trails to improve management and accountability for public service delivery in India.”

Service delivery in development settings in hierarchical in nature, which can lead to agency issues that include incentive misalignment and information frictions. Digital data trails can address many previous challenges related to information flows. Key questions include:

  • How should reforms that improve information about service delivery be deployed?
  • Can public sector reforms be more effective when political actors are involved?

This presentation was part of a larger convening workshop for EDI, “Sharing Solutions, Sharing Strategies: A Policy Institute for Innovations in Public Services,” which involved 13 implementing partners of the programme. Participants had an opportunity to hear about all the work being carried out across the consortium, which helped identify important synergies. Researchers also had an opportunity to gain feedback on work-in-progress.
