EDI Research Insight published to showcase Case Study on civil service reform
How do management practices change over time, and does training bureaucrats in productivity techniques improve management and productivity in Ghana’s Civil Service? These are the central questions of an EDI Case Study which aims to provide evidence of effective strategies to improve the Ghanaian Civil Service.
In a new EDI Research Insight, based on the Case Study, the lead researchers have provided an overview of their approach to explain how they developed unique insights into the daily work lives of the administrators and policymakers that drive the core functions of government. Their preliminary findings indicate that there has been a small but meaningful improvement in the quality of management practice, demonstrating that recent efforts poured into improving the Service have had real, measurable benefits.
