EDI Podcast: Joyce Sadka discusses labour law reform in Mexico
On 1 May 2019, Mexico passed a new labour law. This was seen by many as the most substantial labour law reform in Mexico in a century. In the lead up to the law reform, EDI-funded research led by Assistant Professor Joyce Sadka, provided recommendations that informed the new law. Her work is now being used to inform the interpretation and implementation of the law.
In this podcast, Joyce Sadka talks about the background to her research and her experience navigating the complex information systems of Mexico’s labour courts. She discusses the parts of the law that were informed by her field experiment, and the positive impact that is already beginning to be seen.
