Policy Brief: Female Employment and Aspirations for Children
DownloadFemale Employment and Aspirations for Children: Evidence from Bangladesh’s Garment Industry
This EDI Policy Brief provides insight into gender roles and aspirations for children among a sample of families involved with the Bangladeshi garment industry. It is based upon an ongoing EDI case study by Hannah Uckat and Christopher Woodruff at the University of Oxford and Innovations for Poverty Action.
The evidence in the brief suggests several indirect ways of improving women’s lives for several generations, for example by promoting male and female education, as well as improving livelihoods and family networks.
